Battery life
Battery life depends on usage, but as a rough guide:
- Standby: ~12 months with 8 × quality alkaline cells
- Active (10 unlocks/day): ~9 – 10 months
- Low-battery warning: the Battery lamp (red) lights up on the outer body
tip
When the low-battery indicator appears, replace all 8 batteries at once with a matching fresh set. Do not mix brands or chemistries.
Environmental limits
- Operating temperature: roughly -15 °C to +60 °C (within the sensor-temperature rating above)
- Humidity: the outer body is rated for outdoor exposure, but the inner body should be kept dry
- Not rated for: submerging, pressure-washing, or freezing water ingress
